These images are part of my art-based activism – creating images that illustrate urgent environmental concerns. They are intended for educational (including non-profit outreach and in classes) and personal use only.

These two images were made to support the Carnival of the Nearly Extinct Animals

Honu ‘ea, or the Hawksbill turtle, is critically endangered worldwide.

The beatuiful Kamehameha butterfly is found only in Hawai’i, no where else in the world, and due to habitat loss, its numbers are rapidly declining.

Ola i ka wai — water is life

“Ola i ka wai a ka ‘opua” There is life in the water of the ‘opua (cumulus) clouds. The water we drink comes from the clouds and rain, filtering down through the rock into our precious aquifers. This image was made in honor of those whose spirit is of both the earth and sky, the mountains and waters, the female and the male. Mauka to Makai

Aloha ʻāina means love of the land. But it also speaks to the responsibilities of a loving relationship, the need to tend and respect, and to ensure that this place is properly cared for and managed.
